The Jerry Cans

“When I was writing the lyrics, we put them down and let them live for a while and when I listened back I started to think about lots of people that have passed away.

Up north unfortunately there is a very deep and bad problem with young people taking their own lives with suicide and that is something we have all been impacted by growing up and so when I think about this song now it has taken on some of that meaning.

Nalligilaurakku means “I love them.” It tuned into a little bit of that as well.”

The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra

“We recorded at a really beautiful ranch in Olds Alberta. The first time we met them they invited us to stay and we drank margaritas for like a week. As you do in Old’s Alberta.

They are quite a bit older, and they made me realize you can stay in love and get shit faced for the rest of your life.”

Fred Penner

“I was at the crossroads. I had lost two of the most important people in my life and what was I going to do?”

“I did not want to be an economist and I was not a psychologist by any stretch and the only thing that gave me any bliss in life was music and performance and anything musical that was part of my world.”
